Youtube Comment Translate (Sept. 15, 2021)

Youtube rolled out the ability to translate comments on Video On Demand(VOD) content, not available for Shorts, Community Post, and Live Content.

The feature is now available on Youtube Mobile app (Both Android and iOs). Youtube is working to have the feature available to Youtube Studio and Desktop in the future.

This feature is powered by "Google Translate" so all languages available in Google Translate will be supported.

How does it work?

Anyone who read a comment that is different from his/her native language can tap the "google translate" button that is below the comment. (See image below).

The target language is set automatically, based on a number of signals such as the viewer’s language, location and recently watched videos. This language may be different from the viewer's main language setting.

It’s not guaranteed that the translation target language will change if the YouTube language is updated.

Youtube is working to make it easier for viewers to specify their language preferences.

2 Step Verification (2SV) (Aug 24, 2021)

Youtube started to require all Monetizing creators to have 2-Step Verification (2SV) enabled on their channels in order to continue accessing the Youtube Studio starting November 1st, 2021.

Other users with access or given access to a channel must enable the 2SV by November 1st to continue accessing the channel, one user without 2SV set up will not affect the access of the other users with 2SV enabled.

Youtube would like to enhance the security of channel (and Google Account) from unauthorized access and hacks. It keeps bad actors out even if they have your login information.

Youtube recommend you sign in with Google prompts. It's easier to tap a prompt than enter a verification code. You can also use security keys, Google Authenticator or other verification code apps.

If you don't have a cellpnone, You can sign up for 2-step verification w/o a mobile number by using a security key (can be used on a computer or mobile device) or the Google Authenticator app / other verification code apps (if you have a device to download apps, eg a tablet).

What will happen If Creators Failed to enable the 2step verification by November 1st?

For Monetizing Creators: Creators will loose access to the Youtube Studio but the Monetization status will not be affected,You will regain access to Studio once the 2SV has been enabled.

For Creators Planning to join the Youtube Partner Program (YPP): Creators will not be able to Apply/Re-Apply YPP until they enabled the 2SV.

IF Multiple people need to re-use one log in.

Youtube recommend you use the Channel Permissions feature in YouTube Studio to grant other accounts access to your profile. You can select the level of access you’d like to grant each user . More here: https://yt.be/help/ShfTt
